Pittsburgh Business Group on Health approved as member of the Society of Human Resources Management Recertification Provider Network, and also designated Human Resources Certification Institute Approved Provider

Opportunities support recertification efforts of professionals and continuing education

PITTSBURGH, Sept. 1, 2017 — The Pittsburgh Business Group on Health (PBGH) today announces it has been added as a member of the Society of Human Resources Management Association’s (SHRM) Recertification Provider Network, and also designated an Approved Provider by the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI).

The recognitions mean human resources professionals can be awarded continuing education credits for PBGH programs, including topics at the 2017 Health Care Symposium: Health Care at the Crossroads, Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, at the Pittsburgh Marriott, downtown, as well as its online learning Value-based Pricing (VBP) bronze learning module.

Learning opportunities recognized by both SHRM and HRCI at the 2017 Health Care Symposium include:

  • Artificial Intelligence & Health Care at the Crossroads
  • High Deductibles, High Risk?
  • Creating Innovative Employer & Provider Partnerships
  • Pre-Disease: The High-return Population for Corporate Wellness Programs
  • The New Conversation on Cost for Providers
  • Creating Smarter Health Care Consumers & Lowering Cost
  • Hard & Half-truths of Health Care Cost and Vendor Management

PBGH online educational opportunities will help support the recertification efforts of professionals who obtain their SHRM-CPSM or SHRM-SCPSM certifications. As a member of the SHRM network, PBGH now will be able to award professional development credits for its programs that relate to the SHRM Body of Competency and Knowledge.

With the addition of HRCI Approved Provider status, PBGH learning opportunities can help support the more than 145,000 HR professionals in more than 100 countries who are HRCI certified, making it the world’s highest standard for HR professionals.

In the PBGH VBP learning module, participants will learn about the concepts and guiding principles behind value-based pricing, and the important role of health care purchasers in the process. Participants will review foundational metrics and data sources, as well as how to recognize and communicate the impact of VBP to management.

PBGH’s online learning opportunities will soon expand with more courses and additional silver and gold levels around different topics.

“We are honored to be selected by both SHRM and HRCI regarding our ongoing efforts to advance industry education related to health care,” said Jessica Brooks, CEO and executive director, PBGH. “The rapid pace of the changing health care landscape demands HR professionals build their arsenal of knowledge to better help their organizations drive value and improve benefits for employees.”
