In 2024, PBGH hosted a roundtable, co-sponsored by The National Alliance of Healthcare Purchasers and facilitated by Parthenon/Ernst & Young. Six large-group employers came together for a no-cost, four-hour in-person session. A pre-session survey identified employer concerns and challenges surrounding pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs). Attendees received valuable resources, including a recording of the session and a PBM Vendor Engagement Template (VET), designed as a roadmap to guide employers in engaging with potential PBM vendors effectively.

National Alliance’s Roundtable Objectives & Outcomes:
- Optimized PBM Alignment: Helped employers better understand their PBM contracts and practices, fostering alignment between PBM services and company health strategies to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
- Strengthened Negotiation Skills: Equipped employers with tools and knowledge to secure more favorable PBM terms, including improved rebate structures, transparent pricing, and enhanced access to specialty medications.
- Strategic Planning for the Future: Supported employers in developing key initiatives to shape their PBM strategies for 2025 and 2026, ensuring sustainable improvements in cost management and service quality.
